SUNYCAP Membership
Drive
2009-2010
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of the new admissions professionals that have joined the ranks within SUNY. I would also like to welcome back those who are returning for a brand new year. We should commend ourselves for our commitment to serving SUNY, our individual institutions, the counseling community and the community at large. Despite the tough economic times, it is a great time to be affiliated with SUNY as we collectively and individually are improving and changing its perception in and out of state as well as overseas.
The 2008-2009 membership year saw SUNY campuses across all sectors
reaffirming their commitment by renewing membership as well as
becoming new members. Therefore, as we move into a new membership
year I look forward to returning, past and new membership. Let’s
surpass the record membership we enjoyed in the 2007-2008 year of
416 individual members. Word of mouth is the best advertisement, so
in passing, encourage your colleagues to join an organization that
provides numerous professional development opportunities!
As you plan, remember the 40th Annual SUNYCAP Conference, which will
be held in beautiful Saratoga Springs. You must be a current member
to be eligible to apply for SUNYCAP grants and scholarships. SUNYCAP
is a professional organization devoted to the issues and concerns
facing today’s admissions and counseling professionals, as well as
the promotion and success of the State University of New York.
- A wide range of professional development activities including grant and scholarship opportunities to help members attend the annual SUNYCAP conference, as well as other state and national conferences.
- The opportunity to work with your SUNY colleagues on committees
and special event programs.
- Promotion of SUNY through service to the high school counseling
community.
- A clearinghouse and forum for ideas and issues facing public
higher education in New York State.
- Subscription to the Endeavors newsletter and SUNYCAP listserv.
- Institutional discounts for attending Operation Inform and New Professionals Orientation. A wide range of professional development activities including grant and scholarship opportunities to help members attend the annual SUNYCAP conference, as well as other state and national conferences.
