The Assistant Vice Provost and Director of Undergraduate Admissions (AVP/Director) is responsible for the effective recruitment and admissions strategy, planning, processing, and goal setting for all new undergraduates at Ohio University. This includes targeted populations of multi-cultural, transfer, out-of-state, international, and high achieving students, as well as undergraduate non-degree students. The AVP/Director assists with the development of the enrollment management plan; coordinates the undergraduate admissions’ planning administrative functions; provides leadership and supervision to a staff of 30, including six direct reports; and manages an annual operating budget of $2,500,000. The AVP/Director reports to the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and works directly with academic leadership, faculty, the registrar, and the director of financial aid and scholarships in the development of an effective, data-informed enrollment planning process to recruit a pool of students meeting the University’s strategic goals. Creating and implementing differentiated and highly personalized marketing and recruitment plans that take full advantage of available technologies and resourceful personnel to build enrollment in specific academic programs will be a key priority for the next AVP/Director.

 

Candidates must possess a master’s degree and a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in managing a complex higher education recruitment and admissions program. Superior analytical ability; demonstrated knowledge of targeted marketing, geo-demography, predictive modeling, and net tuition revenue; success using integrated technology-based information systems, CRM tools, and document imaging; and proven ability to lead the staff and practice of a high volume admissions organization are required. An unwavering commitment to equality and diversity coupled with evidence of excellent communication skills, a collegial and collaborative management style, dedication to superior customer service, and an ability to inspire internal and external constituencies will also be important considerations in the selection of the next AVP/Director of Undergraduate Admissions.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Students and Enrollment, the Dean of Admissions is a senior manager within the Division of Students and Enrollment and is responsible for the overall planning, management, and administration of the Office of Admissions. The Dean provides leadership and direction to undergraduate recruitment and marketing initiatives and has primary responsibility for developing strategies to attract, recruit, and enroll a diverse student body that supports the overall mission and enrollment goals of the University. The Dean of Admissions assists with the development of the enrollment management plan; provides leadership and supervision to a staff of approximately 20; and manages an annual operating budget of $1,000,000. Creating and implementing differentiated recruitment plans that take full advantage of available technologies, working closely with staff to expand recruitment markets and systems that increase applicant yield, and developing collaborative relationships with Brandeis stakeholders, including faculty, marketing and communications, and financial aid to meet enrollment goals will be a key priority for the next Dean of Admissions.

The successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree is preferred, and a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in managing a recruitment and admissions program. A hands-on management style coupled with the ability to train, develop, motivate, and mentor staff; expertise in facilitating organizational development and change; competency in building and analyzing recruitment-related data and assessing programming activities; a strong understanding of the innovative uses of technology in the recruitment process; experience working with diverse populations; creativity, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with student financial services and other offices within the enrollment division; and strong budget oversight skills will be essential for the new Dean of Admissions.
