The State University of New York College Admissions Professionals (SUNYCAP) was established in 1970 as an independent, incorporated, professional organization and celebrates 36 years of service to admissions and enrollment management professionals, school counselors and prospective students.

SUNYCAP provides professional development opportunities for its members through the New Professionals Orientation (NPO), as well as, grant and scholarship opportunities. The organization also sponsors the Op Inform (Operation Information) programs held for school counselors at SUNY colleges and universities throughout the state.

A SUNYCAP membership provides:

§      A wide range of professional development activities including grant and scholarship opportunities to help members attend the annual SUNYCAP conference, as well as other state and national conferences.

§      The opportunity to work with your SUNY colleagues on committees and special event programs.

§      Promotion of SUNY through service to the high school counseling community.

§      A clearinghouse and forum for ideas and issues facing public higher education in New York State.

  • The organization started with a small representation of campuses and has grown to over 400 members representing SUNY campuses statewide

  • Last year alone SUNYCAP awarded nearly $10,000 in professional grants to our members.

  • Co-sponsored the statewide Legislative Forum Conference in conjunction with The College Board, NYSACAC,  NY Counseling Association, NYS Financial Aid Administrators Association, NYS School Counselor Association, NY Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, SUNYFAP, CICU

  • Continued co-sponsorship of the Operation Inform programs with System Administration..

  • Orientation for Professionals "New" to SUNY- an orientation to SUNY and an opportunity to visit SUNY System Administration.
